Can iPhones do everything?

Sleep Cycle alarm clock is a newer iPhone/iPod/iPad application that uses the device’s internal accelerometer to monitor a person’s activity level. When a user sets an alarm to wake up, the device begins “looking” for increased activity 30min prior to the alarm time — if it detects lots of activity, and therefore lighter sleep, it will initiate the alarm.

Eric Topol discusses these and other mobile devices and their “exceptional promise for changing the future of medicine” in a recent commentary for Science Translational Medicine.
